Day 10, San Diego Zoo!

So I'm pretty much always writing this at midnight, Central Time... But here it is only 10pm... I'm going to be messed up all summer...

Anyway, we went to the San Diego Zoo today! Wow, wow, WOW! That is beyond amazing!

First, we started off our day going to a local donut shop that was recommended by a local nice person.

We were intrigued while driving around Oceanside to find that all the donut shops are little local small businesses... Because as we know, in Canada, there is  basically Tim Hortons or Robins... No sweet little places...

They had this bacon donut:

But everyone went for tradition, and got their favourite Boston Cream and Jambuster:

I tried a blueberry... Man that was tasty!

And off we went!

Kurt spends a lot of time researching the best way to "do" these various places... For eg... Fast passes at Disney are the way to go... You don't have to stand in line! Amazing!

Anyway, he read people's posts about the zoo and found that taking the double decker bus is a great way to quickly your the park.. That was fun!

They also take your picture before you get on...

When you are getting off, they say your picture is ready, and proceeds go to supporting the zoo.  The package has one 5x7 in a cardboard frame/cover, and two 3x5s, one with a little frame and one without. It was $35... I thought it looked better than any pic of us for a LONG time so we bought it, lol!  For anyone going, they do this again at the panda area, in front of a green screen, with the kids in front with their arms out so it will look like they are holding a panda when they add it later... We had already bought the first one... So if I knew there would be a panda one later I might have waited... On the other hand, a pic where we all look good comes rarely, so that might have been hard!  Also, I know how to do green screen photos and how to add images in front, so I don't need that one.. We can do it later... That will be a funny day!

Then, Kurt read that you should take a gondola to the top and then see everything walking DOWN... It was a hot day, so not adding an Ironman hike was nice...

Yes, those little dots are the gondolas... If heights are a problem, don't look... It's worth it to have gravity work FOR you, lol!

First, we saw the pandas:

And then the boys got a panda stuffie as a souvenir...

We saw several other animals, then had a foot massage at these chairs! 25 cents! Kurt had read about that too! Worth it!

Little guy taking a pic :-)

Well!  If you have ever thought it would be delightful to stroll in beautiful gardens, whilst sipping a glass of wine, etc... This is the place for you!

I only found out after that I could have added Baileys or Kahlua to my iced coffee... But it was delicious nonetheless!

Goofing with the gorillas

Hanging with the hippos...

Talking to the tortoises...

Conversing with the Komodo Dragons... Is that still good alliteration?

There are many more pics and vids that I'll add later when I'm not typing all this with my thumbs into my phone (oh yes, I am)... So stay tuned for that!

Great day!!
